Shannon S. Scott, MPH, IBCLC, RLC, CPST

Shannon Headshot

A passionate mentor and educator, Shannon integrates academic and clinical mentorship into every aspect of her leadership. She has trained and supported graduate students, clinicians, and early-career professionals, fostering innovation and a deep commitment to service across generations. Her collaborative approach brings together subject matter experts, public health agencies, and community partners to design impactful, sustainable solutions in maternal and child health.

Her leadership experience includes:

  • Leading statewide maternal and infant health initiatives for the Texas Department of State Health Services

  • Chairing multi-hospital lactation and quality improvement collaboratives in the HCA Gulf Coast Division

  • Presenting original research at national conferences including AMCHP, APHA, and AAP

  • Mentoring emerging professionals in both academic and clinical settings

  • Serving in elected leadership roles for national and local nonprofit organizations

Shannon’s expertise includes clinical lactation care, infant mortality prevention, curriculum development, coalition building, and the strategic use of public health data to inform policy and practice. Under her leadership, MCH Impact Partners continues to support innovation, equity, and collaboration in maternal and child health.

Hadeer Altawar, MPH
RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Hadeer Altawar is a Master of Public Health graduate from Texas A&M University, with a strong academic background in maternal and child health. During her graduate studies, she gained experience in data analysis, study design, and health education through coursework and hands-on projects. Her interests include improving access to prenatal care, promoting health equity, and supporting evidence-based public health interventions. Hadeer has also served as a teaching assistant and has a passion for community engagement and health communication. She is committed to contributing to meaningful, equity-driven public health work that supports underserved populations. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her two daughters and volunteering in community-based programs.

Lindsey Cochran, MPH
RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Lindsey Cochran is a young professional and native Texan. In December 2024, Lindsey graduated with a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Maryland in College Park. Prior to her enrollment at the University of Maryland, Lindsey earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with a focus on politics and diplomacy from the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University. Lindsey has served as a Consultant at Partners for Development, an international development nonprofit located in Silver Spring, MD, for over a year supporting initiatives that work towards healthy communities and improved qualities of life for underserved populations around the world. During the Spring of 2025, Lindsey served as an Intern in the Washington, DC office of Congresswoman Sheri Biggs of South Carolina where she gained first-hand experience in the federal legislature.
